SOULSBY, P.G.; CONCORAN, C. The Use of Composting Toilets for Domestic Purposes. In: CIBW62 SEMINAR, England. Proceedings. 1994. • The technology of composting toilets has now been developed to a stage where they can be considered for widespread use in domestic property. Composting toilets follow three important environmental principles: the separation of waste into more treatable components, the treatment of waste at point of arising and the recovery of the usable resources. • These principles lead to reduction in energy consumption and water resource demand which can reduce the overall environmental impact of domestic dwellings.

Interceptor tanks with intermittent discharge can be used to generate waves which may have the capacity to clean the pipe of any deposits.
